Fort Cochin Cycling Tour

For more details and for online reservation click here After a short safety-briefing, you will start your day’s cycling through the narrow lanes and spice markets moving towards Mattancherry. The architecture along the busy streets in this enclave is very clearly European, with fine houses built by wealthy British traders of the colonial era, and the Dutch cottages with split farmhouse doors. We have few surprise stops en-route which makes this a very exciting ride. After you reach Mattancherry, you will head to the Mattancherry Palace popularly known as the Dutch Palace, which features Kerala murals depicting Hindu temple-art, portraits and exhibits of the Rajas or erstwhile kings of Kochi and showcasing a blend of colonial and Kerala architecture. After visiting the Palace, you could stroll through Jew Street and visit the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations. Then, you resume cycling and move towards the Santa Cruz Basilica. This is a very attractive church constructed in the gothic style and was originally built by the Portuguese. From there you will pedal towards the Princess Street which has a quaint old-world charm to it. As you approach the end of the tour you arrive at the unique Chinese Fishing nets whose history and drama are remarkable.
